We have a very exciting month ahead of us for July. In this July series I will be teaching milonga from beginner to intermediate. Milonga is very different from tango. It is a more peppy playful dance which… when once know how to dance it and how to interpret it musically ….  is a lot of fun.

So often I see people dance milonga in the same way as they dance tango or they race through it trying to hit every beat. Come and join us for the month of July and learn how to dance milonga to milonga music.

This series is ideal for beginner tango dancers (no absoute beginners please) as well as the more advanced dancers to brush up and fine tune their milonga and musicality.

This has always been a popular series and fills up pretty quickly.

Please register in advance – partners required (if you need a partner please email me and I can put you on the waiting list)

For the 5 weeks of May we are going to have the complete package. Milonga, Vals & Tango. This has always been a very popular series. Milonga is  a lot of fun, especially when it is danced the way is should be dance to the music.  Sadly not a lot of dancers fully get this . Then there is the beautiful vals. Who doesn’t like this unique addition to the tango family trio. But like milonga, it has a different beat to tango so musicality is extremely important in understanding how to enjoy the vals on the dance floor.  We will finish up the series or start the series with tango. There is always so much to learn in tango. Weight shift, axis, intention, the embrace, the invitation the acceptance. The list goes on and on. This class is great whether to polish old skills or to obtain new ones.

December brings us to the end of another year and ready to begin a new year of Argentine tango. This month we have an exciting set of classes in Argentine tango. We will be exploring the roles of the follower and the leader when doing interrupted giros.

It really does take two to tango and the role of the follower and how they contribute to the dance is usually severely underestimated.  A follower knowing their four key elements well can open up their dance exponentially.

The leader , knowing and fully understanding their role to give clear confident leads to partner all the while making sure not to push them off their balance or axis. Key simple points often overlooked for leaders are

  1. knowing where they are
  2. knowing where they going
  3. knowing how to get there

These simple processes produce immediate confidence in the leader which are passed on to their partner in the form of positive confident leads.

We will be concentrating on VALS for two classes, TANGO for two classes and wrap it up with one class of MILONGA.

Our goal is to keep our classes informative and fun. As well we spend the time to work on technique and musicality so that whatever we do can be used on the social dance floor and in the line of dance always being aware of those around us.
